Welcome to the Young Inventors' Program digital home. We hope that this website provides resources and inspiration for all generations to find their place in science, technology, engineering, and math.

As a nonprofit educational resource, we do not use information about our program participants for commercial purposes. We have other nonprofit and public sector partners in STEM education and we will be explicit about what information that we share with them. We are committed protecting the privacy of our participants’ personal information both online and offline and to giving you a secure portal for financial transactions.

Information We Collect

For purposes of program registration, event registration, donations, resource distribution, and providing others services, we will ask for your name, contact information, school/program information, and secure payment information. Special projects may require additional information in order to fulfill program goals, such as virtual competitions. Note that these are not exhaustive lists.

We will not collect personally identifiable information from you other than what you voluntarily supply to us. We will be clear about what information is required and what is optional. We require minors to receive permission from parents/guardians to supply information or directly contact parents/guardians for information on behalf of their participating students.

Nearly all of the information on our site is open to the public. Some pages and resources require free registration to enable full access to information. We request this information for reporting purposes for philanthropic support. We use aggregate data, such as participation numbers and regional locations for these reports.

While most of our services are free, some events and programs will require a registration fee. These pages will provide a secure payment processing option. Other pages allow donors to make secure gifts through the same processor. Your credit card information is held by the credit card processor and not by the Academy of Applied Science.

On certain pages, you can submit content to be published, make comments, and vote. We may collect your name, address, and e-mail addresses for some of these activities. We may contact you about this information in certain cases.

Information Security

The Academy of Applied Science maintains secure information storage with our vendors and service providers. Credit card information is protected by a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate and held with a Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant provider. The SSL protocol is the industry standard method for creating an encrypted, secure connection between your web browser and a web server. We recommend that you exercise good judgement in sharing your information over non-secure networks and methods.

Children’s Online Privacy and Protection

The Young Inventors' Program is honored to have the opportunity to inspire youth innovators. Your trust in our programs and resources means a great deal to us. In building this online community, in addition to our offline communities, we are committed to protecting children’s privacy. We ask that children request permission from parents/guardians to use the site and to provide personal information. When possible, we will communicate directly with parents/guardians to collect information.

We do not willfully disclose personal information about our online visitors who identify themselves as younger than 18. We will request permission from parents/guardians to publish information about children’s projects, awards, and participation through media release forms.

Your and your child's use of this site is agreement with this privacy policy. Please check this policy frequently, as it is subject to change. Your child's continued use of the site is conditioned upon your acceptance of any modifications.

Corrections to Personal Data

Please contact us if you correct personal data, opt out of future communications, or request the Young Inventors' Program make reasonable effort to remove your information from our databases thereby canceling your subscriptions and registrations. Please be aware that it may be impossible to delete information entirely because of backup archives.
