As the new school year begins, we are proud to introduce changes to the Young Inventors’ Program. Highlights include:
New Curriculum & Program Guide
We collected feedback from YIP leaders to refresh our curriculum. We heard the needs for more structured lesson plans to help deliver an invention and design program as well as more formalized curriculum to present to school administrators to secure support for YIP.
Each registered school/program will receive materials necessary to implement the YIP program. In 2019-20, YIP Packs will include a Teacher Guide (one per leader), Young Inventors Journals for each student in your class, a gift card to be used to purchase materials for activities and other program needs at your discretion, and medals and awards to distribute at your local Invention Fair.
YIP Online Workshops
New for 2019-20, YIP staff will host a variety of teacher and inventor workshops, and opportunities to support STEM learning. These online sessions will be available for live participation and recorded for on-demand access. Sessions will include interactive interviews and presentations by inventors and STEM leaders, teacher professional development workshops, information sessions on topics such as designing a display or presenting a project, and best practice sharing among teachers.
